Day 1 of the 5 AM Club

Today, I joined the 5 AM Club. I have made a commitment to get up every day, exercise, meditate and do personal growth work in the quiet hours of the morning.


Now, for those of you who know me, 5 AM is not an hour that I have ever willingly embraced. I have always considered myself a night owl, cherishing the time when everyone else was in bed and I finally got some "me" time. I always fantasized that I would achieve amazing things after 10 PM, and there have been times in my life when I have created great art burning the midnight oil, but more and more, as I have gotten older and my life has become busier as a business owner, mother, wife, etc., I find that I was just spending that time reading the news (not a great idea right before bed) or losing myself in everyone else's online posts. I stayed up too late and had nothing to show for it.


Today, I made a different choice and by 8:00 AM, I have already done some pretty great things. I am awake, excited and ready to start my workday, knowing that I took care of me first, when I was fresh and alert, not last, when I was already tired and spent.

I am so looking forward to what the rest of the day holds for me!
